Journey to a Healthier, Happier You!

Hi! I’m Lyn, this is my story…
I’m in my 40’s, a busy mum of two, primary aged children. Always juggling family, life and work. Trying to fit in healthy habits and put myself somewhere above last on the my list of priorities.
I’ve struggled with my weight and relationship with food my entire adult life.
Constantly looking for the next “food plan” or “healthy lifestyle” to make me feel better about myself.
I tried all the diets! Weight Watchers in my 20s. Then Dukan, the cereal diet and calorie counting in my 30s. Onto Slimming World and Weight Watchers (again) after having children.
Basically they all worked for a while, but they weren’t sustainable in real life. The results never lasted.
All they really did was leave me feeling worse about my body and like a failure. (Why did they seem to work for everyone else?)
What changed?
After years of starting again every Monday morning, I went searching for new answers. That’s when I discovered the anti-dieting movement and Intuitive Eating. Here’s what I learned:
- Diets do not work
- I am enough.
- I can feel at peace with food and my body.
- All bodies are good bodies.
- Health is not a dress size.
- Thin does not equal well.
Learning about this approach to food has been liberating! The changes were incredible.
Now in my 40’s, I look back at all that time, energy and money wasted on diets that didn’t work. I wonder what I could have done with all that time and energy. How different would my life be, if I hadn’t felt “less than” because of my body size and shape?
There were 2 big reasons why I trained as a Certified Health Coach with The Weight Loss Academy:
- I want to share this with everyone – we should have been taught it school
- I want to set a better example of my children. I don’t want them growing up in a society where diet culture is the only way.
I am truly passionate about helping other women find the same freedoms around food. Helping them break free of the diet cycle and stop wasting their precious time and energy following diets that do not work.
